Merle John, DPhil. Graduated from Oxford Graduate School, Dayton, Tennessee in September 2009 with a Doctor of Philosophy (Dissertation – UTILIZATION OF DISTRICT HEALTH VISITORS: IMPACT ON PUBLIC HEALTH NURSING PRACTICE IN TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO). She has a Master of Scriptural Psychology cum Laude and a Bachelor of Scriptural Psychology cum Laude. At the North West Regional Health Authority she was a Community Clinical Instructor/preceptor, responsible for the orientation and clinical training of District Health Visitors, District Nurses, Enrolled Nursing Assistants and clerical staff in the community health services of St. George West and St George Central counties. Also she monitored nursing care in the community health service, counseled staff in clinical performance and guided staff in projects with governmental and non-governmental organizations. In the ministry of Health Dr. John was a District Health Visitor where she would have directed the activities of health districts (both in rural and urban areas), implemented the operational plan for the health district, coordinated activities for the effective functioning of the health district, maintained surveillance on critical areas that impacted on the health of individuals, families, and the community and managed the immunization of the health district. Dr. John has not only taught tertiary students but secondary students in the areas Geography and French at Immanuel’s High School from 1965-1966. In the area of extracurricular activities Dr. John is committed to being a Member of Child Welfare League of Trinidad and Tobago, Member of board of John Phillip Trust Fund, Church activities: Teaches converts/discipleship classes, Advisor Covenant Women of Praise and Visits and counsels individuals and families of CHOP.  Lastly, Dr. John is an experienced Coordinator Geriatric Adolescent Partnership Programme Community Development Ministry.
